Storm Season Resources

Hurricane Preparedness

  • Give us a call before the season begins to review your insurance coverage!

  • Check and run your generators

  • Secure loose outdoor items on your property and dispose of garbage

  • Trim back any trees or bushes, particularly those located adjacent to your home or power lines

  • Check your emergency kits.  Make sure you have plenty of batteries, first aid supplies, flashlights or candles and personal protection equipment (including face masks)

  • Stock up on water and nonperishable food items.

  • Review your emergency plan and know where you'll go in your home becomes damaged.

  • Make sure that you have current pictures of the inside and outside of your property.

  • Put all important documents in one place and ensure that it's airtight and water resistant.  Take pictures of all documents using your phone and store them in the cloud.

  • Check on any neighbors, friends or family members who may need help.

Post-Storm Tips

  • Take photographs of the damage

  • Make temporary repairs to prevent further damage and to protect your property

  • Start a contents list including items, description cost and age for everything that was lost or damaged

  • Obtain an estimate for repairs

  • Be cognizant of the fact that people may try to take advantage of you and your unfortunate situation.

  • Don't get pressured into signing any contracts, especially by people that you have recently met.

  • Feel free to contact us at any time for a status update or for advice.

  • Take a few deep breaths and relax, everything will be ok!
